The Bronx-based nonprofit Theory 9 held its monthly “Food Distribution for the Community” event on Thursday, April 24, outside the Marie Curie High School for Medicine, Nursing and Health Professions, located at 120 W. 231st St.
Numerous Bronx community members came out for the event to receive groceries. While the event was scheduled to start at 12 p.m., some people lined up as early as 7:30 a.m. The groceries were put together and provided by the New York Common Pantry.
Theory 9 put together the food distribution in partnership with the Marie Curie High School for Medicine, Nursing and Health Professions, the Community-Police Relations Foundation, Council Member Pierina Sanchez, New York Common Pantry, Boost Mobile, Essen Health Care, Heart to Heart Home Care and Broadstreet, Inc.
Council Member Sanchez and Community-Police Relations Foundation Founding Chairman/CEO Al Eskanazy were both on hand to assist in distributing food during the event.
Boost Mobile also gave out chapsticks, pens, sunglasses and more from their table. Additionally, they held a raffle, with two community members each winning a free smartphone.
