5th Annual Back To School With Theory 9: Event Highlights & Insights




Theory 9 Incorporated, in collaboration with Council Member Pierina Sanchez, Senator Robert Jackson and Assembly George Alvarez, CPRF Charity, Boost Mobile, Vision Zero, the Department of Transportation, Catrock Ventures, Bio Bus, the Parks Department, and CVS Health, hosted an unforgettable Back to School Block Party. This dynamic community event brought together local families to celebrate the upcoming school year and provide students with the resources they need to succeed.


Held on a sunny afternoon in the Bronx, the block party quickly became a vibrant gathering, with attendees of all ages enjoying the festive atmosphere. Hundreds of local residents participated, with each partner contributing to make the day even more special. The event was an opportunity to foster unity, provide vital resources, and engage with the community.


Event Highlights:

1. School Supply Giveaway: Theory 9 and its partners distributed backpacks filled with essential school supplies, including notebooks, pencils, calculators, and other classroom necessities. This generous giveaway helped alleviate the financial strain many families face at the start of the school year, ensuring that every child could begin their academic year prepared.


2. Health and Safety Booths:

• Vision Zero and the Department of Transportation provided valuable information on road safety, especially for students heading back to school. Their booths distributed materials on pedestrian and bicycle safety, raising awareness about safe travel in the neighborhood.


• Bio Bus brought its mobile science lab to the event, offering hands-on science experiments and interactive activities that captivated students and encouraged an interest in STEM fields.


• Parks Department shared information about local recreational programs and activities, encouraging families to enjoy the city’s parks and engage in outdoor wellness activities.


3. Health and Wellness Resources:

• CPRF Charity provided a portion of back packs for students.

• Boost Mobile set up a booth offering mobile services and giveaways, helping attendees stay connected with discounts and special offers.

• CVS Health joined the event by providing health resources, including educational materials about physical and mental well-being. CVS Health also provided free health tips and advice on managing health care, emphasizing the importance of preventive care for the whole family.


4. Entertainment and Activities:

• Children participated in fun activities like face painting, arts and crafts, and more. There were also games and interactive contests that kept the younger attendees engaged.


5. Community Engagement:

• Catrock Ventures provided a bike station and a raffle, where attendees had the chance to win exciting prizes, including a bike.

• Senator Robert Jackson attended and delivered speeches, emphasizing the importance of investing in education and the local community. Their remarks underscored their commitment to supporting students and ensuring they have the tools needed for success.

• Council Member Pierina Sanchez also spoke, highlighting the significance of community collaborations and her dedication to uplifting the neighborhood through partnerships and shared efforts.
